Has anyone else been having problems with INSTANT Apollo? Their service has been rotten. We've had to wait several weeks for DQC cables to arrive. We broke one and couldn't use one of our workstations for that time. But our recent fiasco takes the cake. We placed an order for 3 port serial connectors on 10/25/90. We were told that we could expect delivery within a few days (INSTANT Apollo, right?). A week after that deadline passed I called back and found out that they were on back order and would be in on 11/19/90. They have no means of informing customers of this. Today I called them (11/26/90) and they said it would be another week (yea, right!). I suggest going ANYWHERE else if you really need networking hardware quickly. I used to be very impressed with instant Apollo but since the HP takeover they still haven't got their parts situation straightened out. I would suggest trying Halmark Electronics in Earth City, MO. (800) 325-1021. I've gotten real good sales support from them in the past. I realize that back orders do happen but at least they could have been more up front about it when the order was placed or at least notify us. -- --=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-- Bryan Province Glenayre Corp. quintro!bep@lll-winken.llnl.gov Quincy, IL "I've fallen, and I can't get up!" - Buster Douglas

I had the same experience with a DQC cable. I now keep a spare one around. They've been reasonably "instantaneous" otherwise. About the serial cable: If that's the 1-to-3 splitter, did you also get hit with near tripling of the price? The thing now costs $325. Seems excessive to me. How can they possibly justify almost tripling the price. Looks like we may be making our own from now on.

Here is the wirelist for the Apollo serial cable we came up with here (thanks to Steve Phillips here for this): Wire list for Apollo serial pigtail connector - 010338 Rev.00 The tail consists of a DB-25 pin male and the pig consists of three DB-25 pin females "co-housed" two "pigs feet" away.
