Hi everbody, I've just been going through ~550 News-items, which collected during my absence. Nothing really exciting has passed, but I want react to one article. In one of the articles there was a question about connecting PCs to the Apollo platform. And the response was to use the DPCI-product for this. Our group has purchased the product for evaluation purposes, and there are several reasons not to continue this track. The mean reason will be the fact that DPCI 5.1 is said to be the last and final version of the product. This was the responce to several APRs I send in, so they won't change it any further. There are also certain features in the package which make the product less desirable: - If running on an ethernnet PC-network then only the gateway can act as server. - Running the product consumes several processes. And processes is/was a scarce resourse on Apollos. There are more but these 3 have decided for us. And though I despise NFS, that and an X-windows program will be what we're going for.
