I read your posting to comp.sys.apollo about truncated postscript files using lpr. You mentioned applying a patch to prflib as a hope for a fix. Unfortunately, I don't think it's going to help you. I looked at this long and hard some time ago. Any postscript files I had that exceeded 132 columns were truncated. It is lpr that is doing the truncation. In fact, /usr/lib/lpf (as it comes from Berkeley) has hard coded limits in it for line length. Note this has nothing to do with the prf print facility. You can verify this by simply spooling the document using lpr (no pc=prf...) command, and looking at the resulting queue file. It is already truncated. PRF will handle this ok (ie. won't truncate) as long as you don't go thru lpr first. I changed pc to be "pc=/com/catf >file" and the complete file is there. So, apparentally the pc/prf combination is cutting the file. By truncated, I actually meant the last part of the file (vertically) was missing. My mistake, I should be more clear. Apollo had mentioned the above 132 line length limitation to me as well; they said it was an "APOLLO" limitation, so on any other UNIX system the problem shouldn't exist. If you get a fix for lpr from HP/Apollo, I'd be very interested in hearing about it. I didn't get much sympathy from them. My feeling is that they should support lpr to the same extent they support prf. But lpr support is minimal at best. If I do get the cutting problem fixed I will post to the net. Thanks Charlie for pitching in on the problem; all help is appreciated. P.S. We took the exact same configuration (printcap, filter, etc.) to a Sun and "poof" it all worked; so it must be some bug on the Apollo. I will note, however, Apollo has been very good about helping in the problem determination. Thank you to the Apollo support staff...
