Hi netters. We discovered a not so wonderful "feature" after installing SR10.3 on 6 of our new 400t nodes. When we are running an X application, such as Motif, HP Vue, or Framemaker, we get a little colored rectangle in the upper left hand corner of the screen. It seems that the more you work, the longer the rectangle gets, and it also will change colors, from neon green to hot pink to dark blue. I called HPollo and after some runaround ("there's probably something wrong with the node -- reboot" ["all 6 of them??] "it's probably a problem with the monitor" [all six brand new monitors??] :-( ), they finally conceded that there was a bug in the colormap. They are going to apr it. In the meantime, has anyone out there discovered this "feature" and found a temporary fix or workaround? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and Happy Holidays. I first saw this happen on my alpha test Strider (oops, I mean 400t) when I started running Xfishes; for some reason Xfishes really exercises this bug. The good (?) news is that the problem has already been fixed here in Chelmsford and I have been told (remember, I don't speak officially for HP) that it will be in PSK9, which will ship, as I understand it, in Q291. Rest assured that it's not your hardware that is causing this and that none of your data is being corrupted. It's just in the display driver code, as I understand it.
