I have been tasked with porting a database system that uses INGRES as its database engine from a Sun OS 4.0 (BSD 4.2) to an Apollo DN2500 SR10.2 (supports Unix environments, ie, BSD 4.2). Questions: The systems developer claims that most Unix systems come with University INGRES. Is this true? I didn't find INGRES on the Apollo SR10.2. Can I easily/quickly get University INGRES for the Apollo? Any thoughts on the port from Sun OS 4.0 to Apollo SR10.2. For example, user interface issues in going from a system written for Sun's cursor manipulation package 'curses' which in turn uses 'termcaps' to the Apollo; low-level communications incompatibility between the two OSs. The database is also supposed to support X Windows user interface on the Sun. What will I need on the Apollo to support X Windows? I realize these are very broadly stated questions. I'm not expecting detailed resolutions, but hints or pieces of advice would be greatly appreciated. Hamid
