Hi there, we got a network of SUNs and APOLLOs and we have mounted directories from a SUN on the APOLLOs using NFS. (Some Apollos use Aegis 9.7.x, some use already Aegis 10.x). So far so good. Unfortunately the logins on SUN and APOLLO use different UIDs and GIDs, so that files owned by user ``foo'' on SUN are owned by user ``bar'' on APOLLO. It seems that we must change all uids and gids either on APOLLO or on SUN (or on both), so that each user has the same uid on all machines??! Now I wonder how to change the uids on APOLLO, as the passwd file is created with crpasswd(1) from the Aegis registry. As crpasswd reads the old passwd, I changed one uid and it seems, that this uid isn't changed by crpasswd anymore! So, is this the way to do it: Just change all uids (of course we will have to change the owner of all files on all machines too ... :-( ) in /etc/passwd ? Or are there any problems caused by changing all uids? Any pointers appreciated!
