Hi I am trying to install Sr10.3 on a DN4000 node which doesn't have a local tape drive. So I loaded the OS into an Authorised area which is on a Dn10k running SR10.3. After that using 'config' and 'install' I loaded the OS onto the DN4000 and let it run. The install finished without me and the machine rebooted by itself ( I did not get a chance to see if the install finished without any errors or not). But the machine does not come all the way up. THis is where it stops: Loading Init ... loading global libraries Error reading config file (status 000E0007) - usinh default configuration ... global libraries loaded. Returned status (from pm_$init): ok ) Can anybody tell me what I need to do to get this working? What config file is it talking about? Where is the config file? I'll be much obliged if someone can help me on this. -- Bala Vasireddi, Phone: (415)962-5036 Synopsys, Inc. I had the same problem when I installed SR10.3 on one of my DN4000s. I think that the problem is in the DM manager. I still don't know why the problem occurred but I do have a work around. One thing you can try to do is bring the node up diskless on another 10.3 machine. I tried that and still got the same errors. Here is the work around that I used. 1. Boot the node diskless. 2. If it still come up with the same errors, since you are in the Phase 2 shell bring up a shell by typing "sh" at the Phase 2 prompt. 3. Mount the node's disk drive and install 10.3 per the HP/Apollo installation manual. When I did this, the install ran just fine. It just seems weird that you don't have the DM running. 4. Be sure to unmount the drive after the install completes. 5. Reboot the node. It should come up fine. Good luck!!! I can't be certain here (I've yet to receive 10.3 on cartridge (HP please note: I told Apollo that I'd ceased installing the OS from floppy & mag tape quite some time ago... ;-( ), but I'm pretty sure that the config file that it's talking about is /etc/sys.conf. This is the file that lists the libraries that should be loaded at boot-time. From the status code (name not found), I would guess that the file doesn't exist. Try booting the machine diskless, mounting the disk and checking for it's existence. If it ain't there, try copying a new one either out of the AA, or off the 10k (I don't have a 10k (too poor ;-( ) - so I'm not sure whether the sys.conf files will be identical). >I'll be much obliged if someone can help me on this. Hope I've obliged you ;-) Colin Disclaimer:I do not speak for Hewlett Packard - sheesh - HP don't even *like* me, and the University of Manchester rarely even notices my existence...
