[comp.sys.apollo] nroff on SR10.2 BSD

hamid@lims01.lerc.nasa.gov (HAMID SAMADANI) (02/07/91)

	I have an nroff file: howto_setup.nr .

Problem: SR10.2 does not seem to have nroff.

Question: Is there an alternative method I can use that would
take advantage of the format control characters of the .nr file?

It does. Your system administrator must have installed the system
without nroff, or deleted it later.

The "TEXT PROCESSING" tools under bsd & sysV are configurable during the
install/config process used to install software on the workstation. Here is a
copy of the relevant questions from the configuration process:

=SYSV TEXT PROCESSING
= The SYSV environment contains a set of commands and
= associated files are related to text processing. Examples
= of these commands include droff and spell. These files
= consume approximately 0.2 MB of disk space.
=
=Do you want a local copy of the SYSV text processing tools, a link
=to another node or neither?
=: [ copy(D) link none ]
=
=BSD TEXT PROCESSING
= The BSD environment contains a set of commands and
= associated files are related to text processing. Examples
= of these commands include nroff, spell, style, and troff.
= These files consume approximately 1 MB of disk space.

Note that the files in /install/baseline on the node under discussion contain
log information about what software is present on the node, or at least about
what the install procedure was instructed to perform. Look for the following
lines in the baseline.<sequence_number> file.

=Release ri.apollo.os.v.10.2 disk version
=Option apollo.sys5.3.text copy
=Option apollo.bsd4.3.text copy
