[comp.sys.apollo] 3com503 + dpciring HELP!!

austin@METO.UMD.EDU (Austin L. Conaty) (03/15/91)

Hello. Is there anyone out ther who has pcs using
the apollo dpciring board (to connect to ATR network)
AND a 3com503 board to connect to the ethernet?

The "front office" uses dpci stuff to store loads of stuff
on what they call the E: drive.(It's a dn3500 with 2 760MB
drives but it appears to be an additional drive to them).
The "front office" also needs to hook up to the campuswide
ethernet directly to take advantage of software written locally
that runs on a locally tweeked tn3270 emulator for pcs. There
was no problem with dpci until I installed the 3com board, then
dpci wouldn't run, because ringdiag failed :
IRQ3 did not set after transmit

I know from talking with Blane at 1-800-help-me-apollo
and Dave Krowitz, that the dpci board is hard wired to
interrupt level 3. The 3com board is supposed to be
"software settable", but so far hasn't done the job.

If there is someone out ther who has already "invented
the wheel" that makes this baby work please let me know.

Thanks a billion,
Austin
