My roommates and I just acquired a DN100 from a friendly college which no longer wanted it. It is, sad to say, deeply disturbed. Problem #1: It has an HPD15 portrait graphics display with a broken tube. Replacing the tube is a priority, and we have some leads, but more leads couldn't hurt. Problem #2: The most impressive 14" hard drive doesn't spin on power up. Is it self-testing? Is it clearly broken? Is there some magic dance one has to do to wake it up? Problem #3: We don't know the root password. The current sysadmin at the aforementioned college said he would track down the sysadmin who actually knew it. That may fall through though. Any help in repairing this beast and getting it running would be most highly appreciated! -- --------- You can never have too many ferrets. ----------- gordon@rpi.edu USERF023@RPITSMTS USERF023@mts.rpi.edu

About the DN100/HPD15 again, is the interface between these RS232, or something far more evil. If not RS232, could someone please tell me about it? I think I could find out a lot more about what's wrong with the system from the resident monitor if I could talk to it.
