[comp.sys.apollo] HP paper on Domain/OS and OSF

The following is relevant to a number of recent discussions here:

My local HP salesperson just gave me a copy of an HP paper titled
"Domain/OS and HP OSF/1: Interoperability and Operating System
Evolution". It is identified as "NSG/ASY/Software Product Marketing"
and dated February 14, 1991. In this 33 page paper, HP outlines their
approach to operating system evolution, including when they plan for
upgrades for the various operating systems and how those upgrades will
mesh.

The paper stresses the viability of Domain/OS as well as addressing how
specific favorite Aegisisms will be provided by OSF -- including a
"DM-like editor". We will see how well these plans are carried out.

I am surprised that this hasn't gotten wider distribution, since these
issues are certainly in the minds of all Apollo network managers. Ask
your local office for a copy.

I'd be interested to know what "DM-like" meant in this context.

I'm not sure which upsets me more: that people are so unwilling to accept
responsibility for their own actions, or that they are so eager to regulate
everyone else's.
