[comp.sys.apollo] SL/IP with SR10.2 - possible ?

horke@rhoen.in-berlin.de (Bernhard Kroenung) (04/11/91)

Is there any slip-driver in SR10.2 or something in PD ?

  Thanx
    Bernhard

P.S. where to find the socket-library ?

Yes there is. You can specify a sl0 device with ifconfig. You then run slip
on a seperate subnet to the other side.

Since Apollo does not support proxy ARP you can't get the other end of
the slip to look like a system on the ring subnet.
Hence you 'loose' a whole subnet.

It does work confortable. I used it for a while running Sun's PC-NFS.
Don't expect a very high performance, but even mounting disks and using
printers worked well. (Not fast :) )

Ciao,

man ifconfig

? It's in one of the global libraries I guess. Just compile and you'll get it.

I'm not sure which upsets me more: that people are so unwilling to accept
responsibility for their own actions, or that they are so eager to regulate
everyone else's.
