thompson@PAN.SSEC.HONEYWELL.COM (John Thompson) (05/21/91)
It's time for signatures. I have collected some already from people who either weren't going to be around this week, or were impatient, or whatever. We need more. If you support the USENET letter final draft that went out about the same time as this, then please send in your signature. For those of you who wondered, I enclose my signature as an example. Note that I've avoided any cute or catchy sayings, as this is serious stuff. Also note that a disclaimer (I represent me, not my company) is also not there, since the letter has a disclaimer to that very effect. I had hoped to get multiple sites colecting signatures, since I didn't want a single funnel-point. However, either I didn't get back to those who semmi- vounteered, or they didn't get back to confirm it. Regardless, send all signatures to me. If you can't get through (gasp!), I guess the best thing would be to send to comp.sys.apollo (please try like heck to avoid that). Here's the request: please e-mail to me with the subject 'SIGNATURE' (see below for where to send to me). Limit yourself to 6 lines by 78 chars if possible. As was stated in earlier postings, please let HP/Apollo know who you are, where you are, and what you do. If you have room and desire, put down what you find especially important, either within the letter or your own special gripe that didn't make it (please stay within line limits though). I will be confirming the receipt of all sigs, but will not be using an automated program (or Honeywell's time), so you may see a delay of a bit (should still be less than a day). If I can't e-mail back to you, I will post to comp.sys.apollo in batches of 10 or more (or fewer if that makes too long a delay). Finally, if you don't want to have your name (company) attached, but still support the letter, I will take these as well. (If you don't give enough info for HP/Apollo to reach you, I will consider it anonymous). Please make the subject 'ANONYMOUS SIGNATURE'. If I can't e-mail back to you to confirm it, I will not reply at all. If you are from HP/Apollo, and want to list that fact as well (but still be anonymous) I will accept those too. Unless there are a significant number of these, though, I'll just lump them in w/ the other anonymous sigs.
