Since I mounted a remote VAX/VMS file system (Multinet NFS) on my Apollo 400 S, SR10.3, NFS 2.2, all hell has broke loose on my system. I can't go into all the crap but would appreciate insight into one of the phenomena I've observed. I login as root and start-up X windows. In an mterm window, I issue the login command and login as mse. As mse, I try to access files on the Vax. I expect Multinet NFS to grant certain privileges on requests from mse but it doesn't see me as mse--it sees me as root (which I determine by creating a file and 'ls -l file'). If my initial login id is mse, everything works as expected. Well not everything but at least security. What gives? Many thanks -- Mark S. Evans Tandem Telecommunications Systems Inc.
