[comp.sys.apollo] 400t centronics interface

bonnetf@apo.esiee.fr (bonnet-franck) (06/20/91)

Hi,

We have a new PostScript printer which I would like
to connect to the centronics port of one of our 400t.

It is a AGFA GEVAERT p400ps ( 400 dpi, hard disk ... ).

We've tested it on a serial port it works fine.

Now ! I want to boost data transfert and use the centronics
interface, but I had no success at this time.

The config file located in /sys/print looks like the following :

---------------------------beginning----------------------------

bottom_margin 0.5
left_margin 0.5
top_margin 0.5
bottom_margin 0.5
description "Laser P400 PS"
device_driver postscript_laser
file_banners on
form_feeds 0
io_device_name /dev/pio1
printer_name p400p
prmgr_site print_manager
paper_size a4
page_reversal off
resolution 400
point 8.00

---------------------------end----------------------------------

the config file named /sys/node_data/etc/pio1.conf looks like :

---------------------------beginning----------------------------

     OL:WAIT
     FT:WAIT
     PE:WAIT
     BU:IGNORE
     HS:BNACK

---------------------------end----------------------------------

I configure this file according to the directives of the 10.3
release notes because we haven't the 10.3 "Printing in the Aegis
environment" documentation, the only one we have is a 10.1 version.

When I start the prsvr I get the following message :

/sys/hardcopy/prsvr /sys/print/p400p_config.data

After that the ONLY way to stop the prsvr process is to sigp -b it.
I know it's dirt but kill -9 has no effect ...

I use a std centronics cable from a PC ( the cable is OK ! ).

Does anybody has any idea of what happen ?????????

This is important for us because this printer will become a heavy use printer
for BIG PostScript files .

In a word : HELP ! .
