Sorry if that has been discussed before: We have a Apollo Domain/OS Version SR10.3 host, with SYSTYPE set to sys5.3. I personally prefer bsd4.3, so I use a ~/.environ to switch the global setting. This works when logging in (telnet/rlogin), but rsh leaves SYSTYPE set to sys5.3. I tried to set SYSTYPE in my .cshrc and noticed that on Apollos my .cshrc isn't executed by rsh! Woops - -No path (WE use /usr/local/bin heavily) gets set. -The command ``rsh node_foo ls /usr/ucb'' laughs at me: `/usr/ucb -> ../$(SYSTYPE)/usr/ucb NOT FOUND' - No rdist(1) can update my apollo directories. - A lot of other things might be broken (I'm still searching). What do I wrong, I mean I can't believe that rsh doesnot execute my .cshrc or does not see my .environ file! And I do need the commands in /usr/ucb accessible by rdist and rsh! Setting SYSTYPE globally to bsd4.3 could solve the rdist problem, but we must set it to sys5.3 for other reasons (There is a MENTOR design package that needs it, so they say). And I do want my ~/.cshrc executed by rsh(1). Any help/pointer appreciated. Thanx pwo -- #include <std.disclaimer.h> (:%s/vms/unix/g :-) (:%s/aegis/unix/g :-) -- Peter W.
