[comp.sys.apollo] MacPlus <-> Apollo SCSI disk

mikew@sdl.mdcbbs.com (Mike Whitaker) (06/26/91)

I'm not sure that this problem has a solution, but here goes, anyway:

I have a MacPlus with standard Mac 25-way D SCSI port.

Kicking arond unused at work we have a couple of Apollo 80M SCSI shoebox disks
with the standard Apollo flat 36-way connector.

Is hooking the two up simply a matter of the right piece of cable, or am I
being naively optimistic?

Apollo 80Mb SCSI shoebox disks? With a 36-pin flat connector?

Never heard of such a beast! I have, however heard of an 80 Mb
external disk with or without an 8" floppy for the DN300/320/330
series. It has a flat, shielded ribbon cable, usually a heavy
black cable. Is this what you have? If so, it surely is *not*
a SCSI disk.

"Heavy" is an understatement. The disk is 70 Mb, not 80, and each of the
two cables (one for hard disk, one for floppy) has 50 conductors. At least
for the floppy cable, every other conductor is also a signal ground, so it's
a well shielded cable.
