[comp.sys.sequent] Standard unix Pascal compiler

atula@cs.keele.ac.uk (Atula Herath) (08/16/89)

Hi,

The pascal compiler 'pascal' in sequent is an extended version of
the language. Does anybody know whether the standard berkeley
pascal compiler 'pc' exists for sequent. In our installation if we
type'man pc' it would come up with the appropriate manual page(which
is significantly different from the manual page for 'pascal'). But
it isn't there in the machine. What we have is 'pascal', the
sequent pascal compiler. Could somebody over there tell us whether
'pc' for sequent exists. If so how could we get that.

Thanks (in advance)

Yes, the Berkeley Pascal compiler 'pc' has been ported to Sequent
Symmetry and is available. You can request it by contacting your
friendly Sequent salesperson in your local Sequent sales office.

(Please note that this compiler may be part of standard Berkeley Unix
distribution, but it is not ANSI standard Pascal. Customers who want
ANSI [ISO level 0] standard Pascal should order Sequent's Pascal
compiler product model number LNG-0311-04, which is a superset of ANSI
Pascal.)

Yes, it does exist. After much pressure from our site, they finally
released it as of this past June. (We told them we wouldn't buy their
machine with out it) Most of the work for this was done at Ohio State
and they did a very nice job..only one bug so far, something minor
but I can't remember what it is. I'm not sure of the status of the
bug either.
