[comp.sys.sequent] SLIP on Symmetry under 3.0.12 running via a 2400 baud connection

warren@samsung.COM (Warren Lavallee) (01/10/90)

Recently I installed SLIP on our Symmetry: Sequent SLIP
distribution 1.5 from Research Institute for Advanced Computer
Science.

We have two V.29 modems on each side. It wouldn't work at
all running 9600 baud HDX. We assumed this was because it didn't
turnaround fast enough for SLIP to successfully run. We then tried
2400 baud FDX. It worked fine for line 10 minutes. Then I get lots
of:

sl0: silo overflow

messages, and my net [on the Symmetry] hangs. The only solution
found was to reboot.

Since then, we have been running it on a Sun-3/260 running
"SLIP for SunOS 4.0." It works find at the lower baudrate.

Is there a number I can tweak in the Symmetry SLIP that will
give it more buffer space? Is that what is needed?

					Thanks for any help,
