The idea has come up before. A year or so back, when net.nlang.celts was created, I solicited votes for other subgroups of net.nlang. One person suggested an Esperanto newsgroup, but neither he nor any of the other respondents were able to get enough supportive votes to justify creating any new newsgroups. That's not to say that an Esperanto newsgroup isn't a good idea. I, for one, would be interested. But I think a more appropriate way to try to get the ball rolling would be to start a discussion in net.nlang. If it lasts for several weeks, then that should be justification for giving it its own newsgroup. Two more suggestions: (1) To avoid flames, people who post articles in Esperanto (or any other language than English) should clearly label the language used in the subject line until and unless a special newsgroup is created. (2) If the campaign is successful, the new newsgroup should be a subgroup (net.nlang.esper?), not a top-level group. Good luck. --- Prentiss Riddle ("Aprendiz de todo, maestro de nada.") --- {ihnp4,harvard,seismo,gatech,ctvax}!ut-sally!riddle
