Good Day- I have a Sequent Symmetry S27 with three telebit T1000 modems for dialins. They work great most of the time, but it seems that calling these modems with an MNP class modem causes some kinda difficult reset fiasco. What happens, apparently, is that the DTR signal from the S27 hardware ports does not toggle off for a long enough period of time. Sequent's answer was that their machine was so fast that other hardware talking to the hardware tty ports couldn't keep up. Welllerrrummmuhhh.... ;-) The S27's toggle is currently about 20-25 milliseconds. (I *think* that's what he said) Telebit was EXTREMELY helpful and busted their arses to help me with this problem. Unfortunately, they could not come up with any combination of Enhanced Command Mode switches, of which there are many, that would "see" the S27's 20-25 millisecond toggle. It is still possible that Telebit modems SHOULD see that small a toggle, but they don't and for them to fix it would be a hardware fix, vs. a software fix by Sequent. Being a software type, I lean that way. ;-) A DTR toggle OFF/ON of 1 second would probably cause the modem to reset itself properly. Anyway, does anybody out there have a solution short of Sequent's suggestion of submitting a bug to them and waiting until their next release? Or a solution short of removing the modems and placing them on some other iron? Any suggestions for workarounds would be appreciated. Send mail if you can, otherwise I'll read it here.
