We have just received a quotation from the local Sequent distributor for the addition of NFS to our Balance system. The software itself is reasonable enough, but we have been informed that we must also upgrade our SCED board to revision level 30 (it's presently at 18). This is to cost A$12,000 which seems just a little steep. It's significantly cheaper to duplicate instead of share the disk space on the Balance at that price. Does anyone out there have any wisdom to impart on this matter? Especially: What does the upgrade do, and why is it necessary? Does NFS work (perhaps slightly degraded) without the upgrade? Does anyone have a rev-30 Balance SCED board for sale? Is there anything else we should know about NFS for the Balance? Thanks in advance..
