[comp.sys.workstations] Need help deciding which small unix box to buy...

jdia@CS.ROCHESTER.EDU (Josh Diamond) (02/05/88)

Howdy folks...

I am in the planning stages of buying a small unix computer
for personal and small software development use. My budget in the
$5000 to $10,000 range. So far, I am considering the following:

	Sun 3/50 or 3/60	SunOS
	Apple Mac II AUX
	Compaq 386/20 Xenix
	ATT 3b1 Unix
	ATT 7300 Unix
Apollo (Whatever they call their Unix)

Of these, the only ones I have much knowledge about at all are
the Compaq and the Sun. I would much appreciate any info you can give
me concerning the other machines running unix. If you can suggest any
others, please do so.

BTW, I can buy most of these through a university, and get a
large discount (with Sun, 27%).

Please respond by mail -- your help will be greatly
appreciated!

				Thanks in advance...
