[comp.sys.pyramid] nlditp and 38400 baud

mark@bruce.OZ (Mark Goodwin) (07/12/89)

Anyone know if nlditp(8-ucb) can program an itp for 38400 baud or higher?
We would like to get more than 19200 baud out of our 98x/OSx4.0 machine.

Thanks,

Nope. You need both new ITP microcode and some kernel changes. Done in OSx
5.0, though 38.4K is as high as the ITP can go without hardware mods.

This is one of those things where you have to say, "if it was that easy, why
didn't we do it in the first place?" Probably has something to do with RS-232
not been spec'd for beyond 20Kbps, and the dearth of devices available in
1983 that ran that fast.
