We are experiencing problems using layers on a Pyramid-9825. The problem seems to be a delay in the reading of keyboard input. This problem is intermittent but quite frequent. The easiest way to explain this is with an example: EXAMPLE: vi dog date :!chmod 755 dog :! ./%<RTRN> Frequently, this will result in NO action; then after hitting <RTRN> (again) the script will be executed, but now both returns are acted upon; this results in the command being executed and then you are immediately brought back into vi (remember vi normally waits for you to hit return to go back into the editor). Of course you never see "date" because everything happened so fast. The example above is a rather harmless one, but in some cases the results are much more damaging; if for example, you have run a shell escape from within an application program and the second return is taken as affirmation of a selection on a menu, in that application, you could be in trouble! If anyone has any suggestions, I would like to hear them; we have fiddled with stty settings and terminal (AT&T 620 ) set-up, to no avail. There seems to be no correlation with the number of users or other activity on the system. We have reported this problem to Pyramid- RTOC (months ago), with no results. Thank you. -- David G.
