We have just installed MacTCP and can happily talk to all our IP hosts except our Pyramids ( running a range of OS's between 4.4 and 5 ). UDP transactions and some TCP connections (telnet) are OK but other TCP connections fail eg SMTP. It appears to be some form of buffer size negotiation failure that occurs during the connection. Does anyone have a fix please? Geoff

The problem (as I understand it) is that the pyramid box is 'too strictly' adhering to the written standard WRT the "push" bit. Since your MacTCP application is not bothering to send the push bit (it really should send it), the pyramid is not bothering to send the packets up to the application. This has been fixed in both 5.1 and in a PTF to the 5.0 product. Contact your support organization for the fix (also known as the ftp fix). Bruce Beare bjb@pyramid
