I would like some advice as to whether we can get our Pyramid to ignore daylight savings time. We are running OSx5.0c on a 9825. Because our politicians can not make up their minds about when daylight savings should start and finish, the dates keep shifting about. In addition we occasionally have the situation of networked machines offset by an hour due to daylight savings in one location and not in the other. both at the same (or similar) longitude. All in all, I would prefer to twice yearly execute a 'date' command rather than have the computer try and do it for us. We have attempted to modify the Kernel config and other relevant configuration files to achieve this, but in spite of considerable advice, have not been successful. The task is more complicated in OSx because of the dual universe situation and has recently changed because of modifications in OSx5. While we have been partly successful, we have not been able to avoid a 1 hour shift in time in one of the following situations. - Time returned by 'date' command in single-user mode - " " " " " for any user in multi-user mode - " according to att cron - " " to ucb cron - " returned by 'date' command for background jobs. We do not wish to ignore the time zone, just the daylight savings feature. If anyone can advise how this is done, I would very much appreciate it. I doubt we are the only site that would like to achieve this, particularly in Australia.
