Preface: This question relates to a system on which we don't have a maintenance contact -- so calling tech support is out. (We don't have support since this is for a non-financed, volunteer-run, public access Unix system; no money... so we can't afford $25k/year maintenance. We rely on free help...) Second, we have no source code, so it's hard to figure out what's going on. Ok the problem is: The system is frequently (say, at least daily, and often many times in a row) giving: panic: itpcmdrupt We used to have two ITP's, but itp0 went bad, now we're using #1 only. itp0 is physically removed from the system (wasn't before, and still had the same problem). We have a couple of the lines set at 19.2k baud, but they worked fine for months before itp0 went out, which is when we started getting these panics. Often the panic will occur many times in a row, and more often it is happening without clearing up (but often we only get two reboots and we're ok for a while). Any ideas? I'm guessing itp1 is bad too (bad news, since we have no spares)... but I'd at least like to know what the panic is about. -- Andrew Burt uunet!isis!aburt or aburt@du.edu "Kwyjibo on the loose!"
