Hi there! I finally got smallc running on a homebrew 68000 system, and now I need assembler source (preferably in C). If anyone knows of such, I would be interested in hearing from them. My system has UNIX like system calls, so I'm hoping someone out there has some semi-compatible source that won't be too hard to port. ad(thanks)vance ...uw-beaver!tikal!amc!mikem Michael E. Various people have been asking for free assemblers for the 68000. The Free Software Foundation (the GNU project) has recently written one, called gas. It is now in beta test. If you would like to get a copy, it is on prep.ai.mit.edu, in file /u2/emacs/gas-dist.tar. If you cannot access files via Internet FTP, contact a local (or distant!) Internet site where you have friends. If you have no friends, consider signing up for uunet, which provides this service for anybody and will then uucp it to you (for a price). I believe there is also a free "ld" and a "make" which are not yet generally released but are well along in development. These all complement the existing free GNU c compiler gcc and source level debugger gdb. Please send bug reports on gas to hack@prep.ai.mit.edu (Jay Fenlason), who is currently maintaining it.
