Is Microware working on an OS-9 C compiler which will implement the coming ANSI standard? My experience with MS-DOS C's is that function prototypes help catch a lot of silly errors at compile time (assuming that the compiler can be told to warn you if no prototype is in scope).

When I asked a similar question at the Os9 seminar a few years ago (the last as far as I know, although they have stated an intention to continue them with a changed format eventually) Kim Kempf (the main author of their C compiler) replied that he was on the ANSI committee, and implied that ANSI compatability was definatly a goal. (Some companies won't commit to unfinished standards. Ansi still hasn't approved a C standard.) Comparing 1.2 to 2.0 to 2.2 C compilers, ANSI compatability is geting there gradually. You should check Microware's area on Compuserve for official press releases, information on current versions (2.2 isn't), etc. Bob Larson Arpa: Blarson@Ecla.Usc.Edu blarson@skat.usc.edu Uucp: {sdcrdcf,cit-vax}!oberon!skat!blarson Prime mailing list: info-prime-request%fns1@ecla.usc.edu oberon!fns1!info-prime-request
