[comp.sys.m68k.pc] Inquiry re. "XDOS"

pyates@CACFS.ARPA (04/04/88)

I am looking for information about a software package called
XDOS.

A friend suggested that I send a query to this group.

This package is supposed to be able to take an MS-DOS program,
and cross compile it so that it can run under UNIX on a 68020
machine such as a SUN 3.

I would appreciate any information available on this package or
any other package similar to it with this type of capability.

Thanks in advance.

The 3/17/88 issue of Electronic Design had a short news article on XDOS on p.21.

I saw an product announcement for this program in EDN or Electronics within
the past few weeks or so.

The only thing I remember about it was the statement about XDOS performing
a complete global data flow analysis of the program. They need to to do this
to figure out what instruction sequence on the 386 maps to what sequence on
the 68020. Other than that it wasn't too noteworthy. Marketing pieces usually
have little technical content.

Hope this is useful,
