Someone recently mentioned that Mindset had gone out of business. In the latest issue of BYTE magazine, on page 342, is an add for American Design Components in which they advertise the Mindset for $299.00. This includes the cpu, ketboard, mouse, joystick, GW Basic and MS Dos 2.1. There is no monitor included, but it has one 360K floppy, 256k ram, RGB or monochrome output and an rf adapter. Also available is an rs232 port ($39.95) and an 8k non-volatile Ram cartridge ($29.95). For those of you unfamiliar with the mindset, it was a halfway decent attempt at an ms-dos based graphics computer which never really took off. It has recieved some use in low cost television studios in CG and weather map generation. There are a few vertical applications available for it from the VARs who originally promoted it. Most notably Island Graphics Lumena paint program was first ported to pc's on the Mindset. The Mindset basically lost out in the market due to it's custom nature, and the encroachment of 68000 based systems like the Amiga in the video market. PS- in the same add ADC offers Amiga 1000 power supplies for $19.95.
