Subject: ICEC-Ware.HQX (in 6 parts)
This stack (public domain) contains "catalog" information on **ICEC-Ware**.
In brief, ICEC-Ware (a project of the Inter-university Consortium for
Educational Computing) is a CATALOGING/DISTRIBUTION ACTIVITY FOR EDUCATIONAL
SOFTWARE THAT RUNS ON HIGH-FUNCTION (e.g. Unix) WORKSTATIONS. [See material
below between #####'s for more information on ICEC-Ware. The stack, itself,
contains more information on ICEC and on how to obtain the ICEC-Ware tape.]
--> This HyperCard stack is much more than a linear listing of entries that
appeared in the printed ICEC-Ware Catalog. "Top-level" choices allow viewing
of entries by type of use (e.g. tutorial, simulation), by discipline, or by
"system" (e.g. X.10 windowing environment, Andrew window manager, Mac). When
one of these is selected, a list of titles with that attribute is shown and
then one can move to the card with full information on the entry. Each entry
has a "hypertext" type of feature: clicking on one of the several attributes
that describe that entry allows one to see a listing of all titles that
share that attribute.
##### ##### ##### ##### ##### ##### ##### ##### ##### #####
One of the objectives of ICEC (the Inter-university Consortium for
Educational Computing) is development and use of advanced educational
software for high-function personal workstations (e.g. Unix-based
workstations as well as powerful microcomputers with a "mouse" user
interface & bit-mapped graphics).
ICEC-Ware consists of (a) a catalog of such programs and (b) a collection of
a subset of the programs in the catalog. The First Edition of ICEC-Ware has
a small sample of such programs (18). The "First Edition collection" (it is
available for distribution with the catalog -- see policy statement in the
stack) consists of software for certain Unix workstations running either the
X.10 windowing system or the Andrew system. We plan to broaden this
substantially by exploring other distribution policies and by engaging in
distribution for other machine/operating-system environments in future
editions of ICEC-Ware.
To date (prior to this HyperCard version), the "parts" of the ICEC-Ware
Catalog were: (1) a printed catalog and (2) an on-line catalog program
giving access, on Unix workstations, to the catalog database (that program
is included with the "collection" tape).

Subject: Disk labeler stack
The following is a HyperCard stack for printing disk labels for your disks.
Features include:
Library of created labels that you can use.
Ability to select what programs to add to the label by picking the
program names from a catalog of the disk.
Facilities to create your own labels including adding any one
of ~200 common program icons to the label and automatically
adding your label to the index of labels.
I actually do use this to make labels for my disks (can one be too
organised... probably). It takes very little time to produce even a
brand new label.
This stack is shareware.
The stack also includes three XCMD/XFCNs that can be used in other stacks
(subject to restrictions specified in the stack documentation).
XCMD to print any rectangular region of a card
XFCN to catalog a disk
XFCN to list disks available

Subject: MacJove (revised) (in 7 parts)
MacJove is a port of Jove (Jonathan's Own Version of Emacs) to the
Macintosh. Traditional keybindings are maintained, along with all other
features that are compatible with the Mac operating system. In addition,
most elements of the Macintosh interface, including the mouse, menus, and
controls, are incorporated in a manner consistent with the operation of
Jove.
This archive contains the following files. A complete manual will hopefully
be completed in the near future, and will be available separately.
MacJove application.
.joverc sample .joverc file (put in same folder as MacJove).
cmds.doc help file (put in same folder as MacJove).
Readme.mac essential information for running or compiling MacJove.
Readme.too latest information.
teach-jove tutorial document.
MacJove can also be compiled from the Jove sources, which are #ifdeffed
for several systems. These are being posted to comp.sources.unix, and are
also available via ftp from different sites. MacJove is copyrighted,
but is available free. It is NOT shareware.
Inquiries regarding the sources, along with bug reports, comments, and
suggestions should be directed to myself.
