  TECHNICAL PRESENTATION - Monday, April 17, 10:30 a.m. in Room GB 119
(GB = Galbraith Building, 35 St. George Street)

                        Jerry Clay and Bill Altneu
                           Evans and Sutherland
                         Mountain View, California

                         "The ES-1 Supercomputer"

The recently announced ES-1 Supercomputer from Evans and Sutherland will be
described. It utilizes the latest VLSI-CMOS technology and a moderately
parallel architecture to deliver high general-purpose supercomputer
performance. The technology provides extremely fast scalar speeds and
performs numerous functions in parallel, thus allowing existing non-
vectorizable software to perform at supercomputer speeds.

Important features include:

     - Two to eight processor clusters of 16 computational units each

     - Memory sizes from 256MB to 2GB globally shared

     - Maximum execution rates from 320 MFLOPS to 1280 MFLOPS
