Fine, Mr. Levin, but I fail to see the relevance of your statement regarding the earlier posting. Chuq was not flaming you - he was flaming someone who was using the SHAREWARE version of Boomerang and was now complaining that the author of the shareware version wasn't releasing a System 7 compatible version of that old piece of sofware. All of what Chuq said is true - registered users of shareware boomerang were sent (free) a copy of the commercial version (SuperBoomerang). We were also given an opportunity to buy the complete NOW Utilities package at a very attractive price. Furthermore, in the past week, and updater has been made available which fixes some of the cosmetic glitches SuperBoomerang encounters when run under System 7. A fully-System7 compliant version of the entire NOW package, including SuperBoomerang, is promised for the near future. I, for one, think that's pretty fine support, and have no patience with those who couldn't be bothered to register. As far as you are concerned, Mr. Levin, I don't know what you will do when (if) you upgrade to System 7, but I'm sure you will have the common sense to not complain that a two year old freeware package no longer works. Perhaps you should just be a little bit less sensitive to flames which aren't headed in your direction. Now --- thanks to James Davis at the University of California and thanks to "archie" --- I was able to download PseudoPS once again and now there it is on my hard disk. PseudoPS is indeed what I had been searching for for a long time: it IS a PostScript previewer for exactly that subset of commands fitting in my demands. But: it doesn't run under MultiFinder (it quits unexpectedly after opening the PostScript file) and it bombs sometimes under Finder (on a IIci, 8 MB, System 6.0.5). I think this is due to an old version of the compiler (I haven't found one, but it seems to be Version 2.1 of LightSpeedC) and don't forget, it has been compiled 1987 and there has been some changes in the Mac world. As the whole source code of PseudoPS is in the PackIt archive, I would like to ask these kind souls on the net to recompile this rather good utility with a higher version of LightSpeedC as I don't have it, but need PseudoPS. Or even better: upload a new version of PseudoPS (e.g. with a larger window -- just change some digits in PseudoPS.h). Any volunteer should drop a message to me and I will be very happy to send the source code out, as it is no longer available at sumex-aim (I have got it from Minnehah.rhrk.uni-kl.de (131.246.9.116)). ^^ means Germany!! Try Holding down Option then choosing About the Finder(note that this is not About the Macintosh anymore). Now try option-cmd and choosing it. Look at the cursor! The Color Map in the scrapbook can replace the one in the Map cdev. The linked rings in the scrapbook replaces the Apple in the Puzzle. Any PICT can be pasted in, including icons. Those that are in the System can be played in the Finder, they can be copied, pasted into the Scrapbook, the Sound cdev, ResEdit, etc. Notice that when sounds are pasted into the Sound cdev, it asks you for a name. Hidden Messages in cdev's: In the Memory cdev, with Virtual Memory on, hold down option and click where it has the name of the hard disk. In the Colors cdev, option-click on the Sample Text a few times. In the Monitors cdev, option-click on the 7.0 in the upper right corner.
