Subject: Foxbase and SET RELATION TO

I am trying to learn how to use the SET RELATION TO command in FoxBASE+,
and can't get the hang of it. Basically what I am try- ing to do is when a
user is inputting new data records, and they input something like a parts
code, I want the description for that part to appear accessed from another
database file which contains parts information.

If anybody has any small sample programs they could send me that are in
foxBASE or dBASE III could you please send them to me?

Thank-you,

Subject: Desire iRMX development tools under UNIX

This message is being posted for a friend. My friend is developing
products foran IBM-AT clone running a port of Intel's iRMX operating
system. At this time all development is done either in DOS (blechhh my
spine hurts) or even worse the iRMX development environment. What he
would like to do is develop C programs ina UNIX environment with a
cross-compiler that can produce the iRMX OMF-286 object files. Any
information on any subject matter pertaining to iRMX tools under UNIX
would be highly appreciated.

Subject: HP calculator program for MSDOS

I have uploaded v1.0 of 'rpn' to simtel20. This is a simulation of the
scientific functions in my old HP-29c calculator. It is written in Turbo
C v1.5, and the I/O routines are currently CGA-display-specific, although
there is a standard input/output option. Not-too-compatible machines
(z-100?) should be able to just lop the display code off cleanly. Well,
maybe their owners could.

The archive includes source code and the executable, for people who can't
compile Turbo C. Bug reports and other comments welcomed. Access
information, from Keith Petersen:

Subject: Looking for Multi-Lingual Word Processor

Hello all,

I am in search of a PC-based wordprocessor which will support Polish,
Russian, German, and English. Ideally, it should be able to export to
MultiMate Advantage II (bleah), however, if file export is possible, MS
Word or WordPerfect would be good. It would also be nice if it ran under
MS Windows (and later, OS/2), but again, the world won't end if it doesn't
do so.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Since this is probably not of
general interest, please reply via e-mail. If there is sufficient
interest, I'll summarize to the net.

Thanks in advance,

Subject: mail/news reading on PCs

Regarding queries about PCs handling mail/news, our UULINK product allows
DOS PCs to become quite comprehensive UUCP nodes, including mail and news.
It handles automated inbound and outbound connections (and supports
multiple-packet transmission/reception windows to optimize throughput),
has mail/news sending/reading programs with a wide range of functions for
reading/saving to/from folders, replies, fowarding, etc. It supports both
UUCP ("!") and Internet ("@") style addressing and sitenames (RFC 822/976,
etc.) and includes aliases, distribution lists, signature files and many
other features.

There are many PC sites on UUCPnet/Usenet/Internet right now that are
using UULINK.

Hi,

I have created a small program that takes a file containing accented and
other special characters and writes a file in which these chars have
been translated into their TeX equivalent.

Since I think that program can be useful for those of us who are using
TeX with non-English languages which are full of special chars, I am
sending you a copy of it. You can put it in the lending library if you
find the program worth doing so.

Regards and happy New Year,

Subject: PC-WRITE 3.01

I just read a message concerning the upload of PC-WRITE 3.01. I had
gotten this version from another source and wondered why I had not
received it from Quicksoft myself, being a registered user.

The reason is that 3.01 still has some problems, according to a call I
made to Quicksoft. The registered base is going to receive 3.02 in the
mail sometime in January. It, too, will be shareware.

As far as I can tell, there are no devastating bugs in 3.01. However, I
thought all out there should be warned.

Subject: Using full palette of VGA

I've just gotten Turbo Pascal 5.0, which now has routines in it to access
the full palette of the VGA. According to specs, my VGA is capable of
displaying 256 simultaneous colors out of a palette of 256,000. Does
anyone have any idea then why TP keeps insisting that both my palette size
and max #colors are 16 (via either GetPaletteSize, GetPalette, or
GetMaxColor)? This is true no matter what video mode I request. The
manual confirms this, BTW, by stating on page 388 of the reference guide
that the VGA's color range is 0..15. Anybody know why I can't use the
full range of my hardware?

Interestingly enough, the IBM 8514 is the only display device that TP
lists with 256 colors. I'm not familiar with this device; anybody know
what it is? TP won't complain if I tell it I have an IBM 8514, but
unfortunately nothing gets drawn on my screen if I give a graphics command
in that mode.

In case it matters, I'm using a Paradise VGA Plus card on an IBM AT.

Alpha Micro, makes the video tape backup board for the IBM PC/XT/AT. I
have used one for about 3 years in various XT and AT class clones without
any problems. I use the board with a standard VHS recorder. If you get
their VCR it will automatically fast forward to files and other neat
things. Look for adds in Computer Shopper, Byte and such. At one time JADE
was selling the boards. Alpha Micro has a lot of experience with this.
They had a S-100 version of the board for their systems. Unfortunatly, the
attitude is still, if you want the S-100 board, buy a whole system.
