Subject: 360K drive as third floppy

I have a problem. (My friendly local computer store dealer is the cause...)

I have 3 floppy drives, the first is a 1.2M the second a 1.44M and the
third is a 360 K. The third drive has some additional hardware, but the
drivers I received only support 720K floppies for these drives. Are there
any drivers for my situtation available? I know my dealer should solve
that problem, but perhaps somebody can help he and I.

Subject: CorelDraw and the HP ColorPro---more

Further to my last message about CorelDraw and the HP ColorPro, I rang
Corel again and was advised to reinstall the driver.

I did this, deleting the driver as well, and using the README file
provided for HPGL plotters which I had previously overlooked (hang head,
blush).

This time there was no problem with CorelDraw but it seems that the HPGL
code generated is too much for the plotter---I was drawing a simple
outline figure but the lines were more than a penwidth thick---and the
plot went haywire.

I'm having problems with my environment. No matter how large I set the
environment with CONFIG.SYS's SHELL /E switch, I have practically no room
in my environment to add strings. This only happens under a second copy
of COMMAND.COM. Anyone know why?

Subject: Find anti-virus programs

Dear networker:

Recently, I got several copies of different virus detection programs
found that three viruses exist on my harddisk and are probably messing
with my programs. Could anyone tell me how to get rid of these viruses
and how to find anti-virus programs. The viruses I found are as follows:

 1. Stoned virus in partition table (detected by SCAN.EXE 0.39V29)
 2. Jerusalem virus - version A
 3. Jerusalem virus - version B

Although these three viruses haven't caused any demage to me, I do not like
them living on my system.

    THANKS VERY MUCH!

Subject: help with interrupts

Has anybody ever tried writing an interrupt handler connected to one of
the 'reserved' interrupts on the slave 8259a PIC of a 286 ?

No problem for the handler, actually, but I cannot manage to activate it.
The address in the interrupt vector table is ok, I also tried enabling all
the interrupts on the slave 8259a but when I send pulses nothing happens.

I tried already with a handler for int. 60h, which is a software
interrupt, and when I call this one with an 'int 60' instruction, it works
fine.

  Any help is greately appreciated.

Subject: PC LAN accounts payable info requested

We are looking for a pc lan based accounts payable and purchase order
system for our company. We currently have the Computer Associates general
ledger running on an IBM 4381 mainframe but will be migrating down to PCs
(hopefully) within the next two to three years. In the meantime we'd like
to automate our accounts payable and purchasing operations using our
existing lan and IBM PCs. We're running Novell on IBM Token Ring with
about 1300 machines bridged together. There would probably be about 10-20
simultaneous users at any one time from the accounts payable, purchasing,
and user offices.

Our transaction volume is approximately 500 Purchase orders/month 3000
Invoice vouchers/month.

Is anyone aware of other companies with volume similar or greater than
this that have automated any of their accounting using pc-based lan
systems?

I have the feeling we're venturing into somewhat unchartered territory on
this and would greatly appreciate any help anyone could give me in
locating companies. Thanks in advance.

Subject: The long way to CompuServe ... from Holland

After acquiring a VGA-equipped Laser AT, my interest in picture viewing
increased astronomically. So, I browsed around in the Archives, finding
some GIF pictures and playing around with them and the viewing/conversion
programs for 'em.

Somewhere I found a line about "zillions of GIF files on CompuServe". Now
this may be an awfully stupid question, but how do I get to them? I'm in
Holland, on EARN/BITNET, and have absolutely NO idea how to go about this.
Is some kind of membership involved, is downloading possible, etc. etc.?
Any and all help would be *most* appreciated.

Note: the only way I can get to the Archives is by sending commands to a
Trickle server. Could I get to CompuServe that way? No "anonymous FTP"-
ing for me.

Subject: Re: Milli-Second timer on XT/AT

FELLOW NETLANDERS.......
HELP!! A few months back there was a lively discussion about
how to programmatically `build' a start/stop timer in an XT or AT
(Z248 ??). I diligently hard copied those discussions, and filed them
along with other most prized written stuff. One re-arranging/cleaning
session in those shelves in and around my computer. Now I can find
absolutely NOTHING that I so carefully filed away. I would be extremely
grateful if those of you who provided some of those programs would kindly
E-Mail a copy of them to me. I am immediately interested in programs
written in Basic/Turbo-Basic. I need to be able to start the clock
by the program `reading' some inputted ascii character, stop the clock
by a keyboard press, note the elapsed time to 1 milli-second accuracy.
Store the elapsed time, reset the timer, and start the sequence again.
I will be very appreciative of your replies and responces.
Thanks in advance.......Paul

Subject: MUSH v5.7 MSDOS<->Unix uucp email uploaded to SIMTEL20

I have uploaded the following files to SIMTEL20 directory
PD1:<MSDOS.UUCP>

MUSH57DC.ARC    MSDOS<->Unix uucp email, documentation, 1 of 3
MUSH57EX.ARC    MSDOS<->Unix uucp email, executables, 2 of 3
MUSH57SR.ARC    MSDOS<->Unix uucp email, C source code, 3 of 3

This is the popular "MUSH" mailer, ported to MSDOS. The user must
also have UUPC (uucp for MSDOS) running. UUPC is available from the
same directory as INTERIM.ARC.
