This is a NLQ dot matrix printer, model DFX-5OOO. This printer has two tractors, so you can feed in paper from the front, or from the rear of the machine. I'm using this printer on a Zenith Z-248, a 80286 machine running MS-DOS 3.2. Every so often, the printer begins acting strange. The tractors are well below the platen and carriage. To load paper, you put it into the tractors. just level with the top of the tractors. Then pushbuttons automatically load and position the paper. Except when the printer decides it's time for some spirited behavior. Then it will feed and unfeed the paper continuously. It only stops whan the printer is powered off. There is an electronic eye near the platen, which I cleaned with some isopropol alcohol. This didn't appear to do anything, so I disconnected the printer and left it over night. This morning, I tried out the printer again. It fed and unfed the paper for about 5 minutes, and then settled down. It is now working just like normal. Did the cleaning work, or did the computer gods decide they'd laughed enough for one day? Instead of receiving keystrokes from the file the animated program accepts only keystrokes from the real keyboard. Could this be because of an enhanced keyboard? Then why does it work on the same machine under DOS 3.3? Thanks for any suggestions, Anneke ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Oct 90 06:18:00 EDT From: Pat Bauco <PBAUCO@CSBN.Concordia.CA> Subject: PCO v3.34 Hello, I'm currently using version 3.0 (maybe 3.3) of PCO which is a shareware outline program. I've seen version 3.34 advertised in PC World magazine. I'd like to know if someone out there has the new version and whether it is markedly different from the previous one. For example, does the new version have mouse support. Maybe someone can upload into SIMTEL so that others can get the update.
