Hello. I know that when a person uses pub-dom/shareware software, he is under the expression 'Caveat emptor'. I believe I may have snagged a few viruses, but am not sure where or what it's in. My question is, does anyone have a virus scanner/healer they KNOW is safe? I've heard of a lot of stories of virus scanners that do just as much damage as the viruses it's supposed to find. Can anyone recommend a package I can use? Thanks for your help. Tony Phillips Programming: n. The art of President- A.C.M. UMR Student Chapter debugging a blank sheet of paper. Unfortunately, the controller appears to have a bad ROM. Both POST and manual checking reveal that the on-board 2732 at C800:0000 has a bad checksum. If I can find someone with the same controller, I'd like to try burning my own EPROM with a good version of the firmware. Peeking through the EPROM reveals the message: KANTO PERSONAL COMPUTER SYSTEM ver 3.0 (L) The board itself is full-length and labeled with LB-HDC-04-2, but with no obvious indication of manufacturer. There are two EPROMs, a 2732 containing the 8088 code and labeled 1K 14, and a 2764 with code for the on-board 8085, labeled HD. The latest date code on the IC's is September, 1984, so I'm not holding out too much hope of finding another one still kicking. I have even less hope of finding that Kanto Inc. is still around. Somebody please surprise me! >>> Dan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 OCT 90 15:36 N From: "VALTER V. It now has high/low density 3.5 and 5.25 file transfer capabilities. We also have hardware/software to handle Mac disks. Now some Apple II/e people are saying "What about me??". I've got a couple of slots if something like the Mac stuff exists. Any suggestions? Or I could set a II/e and pc next to each other and use a null modem and Kermit on each. Anyone doing this? GaryM. My only knowledge about fax boards so far is from PC Magazine review earlier this year, but as I recalled there is only one fax board compatible with MCA with high price unfortunately. Any info will be greatly appreciated. I like to get a paperwhite VGA for it. In a few months, I'm going to upgrade to a 386sx. If I get the VGA card and monitor for my XT now, can I still use the same monitor and card later for the 386sx? I'm pretty sure I can use the same monitor, but what about the card? I understand that the 386sx uses 16 bit VGA cards. Are there VGA cards that are interchangeable between 8 and 16 bit computers i.e XT and AT?
