So what's the story on Tron from Japan. The latest issue of IEEE Micro
had several articles discribing Tron. Its a layerd operating system
that is being proposed as a standard for everything from Microprocessor
instruction sets, real time industrial kernel, advanced applications
programming environment with a kinda object oriented / DBMS file system,
to Man - Machine Interface.
It uses 16bit characters to support Japanese and Chinese languages.
Several Japanese chip manufacturers are at least experimenting with support.
My question is: How real is this? What impact will it have on the real world
of computers? Is this some real potential compitition to Unix and MS-DOS?
Is anyone in the US considering it?
