Howdy. I'm a recent (sort of -- ) graduate of Worcester Politechnic Institute with a BS in CS. I've been stuck doing applicatons-level programming for the past 2 years, however, in my final year at WPI, I started work on a project to design and implement a system for real-time store/recall/manipulation of audio data. What I essentially envisioned was a program which would act like a sampling synthesizer (E.G., Kertzweil, [can't think of others off hand, but there are scores out there]). Unfootunately, the facilities (and prof. support) were at best quite poor. We were using a PDP-11/23, and our implementation language was Macro-11 (yuk -- what a joke). I guess my question would be: what machine(s)/OS(es)/language(s) would be appropoiate for such tasks. Actually, since then, my goals have expanded. Also, could anyone point me to some on-line papers/documents which might be relavant to this area. (Since I am blind, the "on-line" bit is important.) Thanx in advance... -- Rich
