Speaker: Keith O'Rourke, The Toronto Hospital Corp.

Place: Room 1085, Sidney Smith Hall, 100 St George Street

Much of the statistical literature on meta-analysis is directed at estimating
various moments of observed study treatment effect estimates and the
attendant problems regarding this. For instance - mean treatment effect
estimates under "p-value" censorship and variance components estimates for
quantifying inter-study variation.

Viewed as an opportunity to circumscribe and encourage "better methods
of science" a different set of statistical tools needs to be developed
and disseminated.

Linear modeling techniques are adapted i a meta-analysis of nutritional
support for cancer patients and presented as a case study in this direction.
