[ This isn't OS research, but perhaps it may help someone to do some. --DL ] California State University, Chico DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP California State University, Chico invites applications and nominations for the Patricia Roberts Harris Graduate Fellowship in Computer Science. We are seeking a minority (Black, Chicano/Hispanic, American Indian, Filipino, or Pacific Islander) or Female who is interested in earning the MS in Computer Science degree, has an outstanding academic record as an under-graduate in Computer Science or a related discipline, and has documentable financial need. This fellowship includes a $10,000 stipend for 12 months plus support for out-of-state tuition and dependents, where applicable, and thesis support. The Department offers the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science. Currently, there are about 500 undergraduates and 105 M.S. Students. The faculty consists of 20 full-time faculty and several part-time faculty from related disciplines. Areas of projects and research include, but are not limited to, operating systems, software engineering, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, compilers and languages, simulations, networks, and computer performance measurement. Laboratory facilities include several HP350C's (high performance graphics and AI), Convergent Tech. UNIX workstations, an AT&T 3B15 and HP3000 mini systems, (due for replacement in Fall 1988), and several PC's. Students also have access to an Apollo graphics laboratory and the university computer center. Located in the sierra foothills in Northern California, Chico provides a pleasant environment with easy access to mountaineering and skiing.
