Topic: Method of Pao-Zhuan Yin-Yu: Method of Stochastic Point Estimation
Speaker: James C. Fu, University of Manitoba
Date: Thursday, November 9, 4:00 - 5:00

Abstract:
A computer intensive resampling technique called method of Pao-Zhuan
Yin-Yu is systematically developed to improve the initial estimator and
to estimate the variance of the improved estimator. It provides an
alternative to the bootstrap and jackknife methods. Several numerical
examples are given to illustrate our method. Our numerical results
show that the method performs extremely well in many cases.
