I read an article called "The Synthesis Kernel" by Calton Pu, Henry Massalin and John Ioannidis in USENIX Vol. 1, No. 1, Winter 1988. In the article they referred to using executable ready queues to speed up context switches caused bya time-slice. I was wondering what kind of performance improvements can be expected using this method of context switching. I'm interested because a group of us implementing a real-time kernel for a course and would like to use this method if possible ( brownie points ). Thanks in advance for any help or information. Have a nice day. Tim Desjardins. tdesjardins@spurge.waterloo.{edu|cdn}
