I am doing a reliability study to see how long machines actually stay up. We know that most failures are due to software, but it's really not clear how long we can expect between them. (A simple guesstimate is about 18 days from preliminary data). So, I am asking you to help me out. I appreciate it is you would: 1. run "rup" or "ruptime" on your local network, 2. indicate what time you took the sample, and 3. indicate if possible the type and OS of each machine listed. Items (1) and (2) are essential, (3) will be helpful. Please do not mail the results directly to me -- I get too much mail already. SEND RESULTS TO reliability-study@sdsu.edu Thank you in advance.
