Guide is a research project jointly conducted by IMAG (research institute of the universities of Grenoble and CNRS), and Bull. In 1990, these two partners formed a joint research unit called Bull-IMAG/Systemes. The objective of the Guide project is to explore distributed computing based on a set of heterogeneous individual workstations interconnected by a high-speed local area network, using an object-oriented approach. Guide is associated with the ESPRIT project Comandos (Construction and Management of Distributed Open Systems) The technical reports published by Bull-IMAG are available by anonymous ftp from imag.fr (129.88.32.1), in the directory pub/GUIDE/doc.
