- - OATS OPEN ARCHITECTURE TEST SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY MEETING You are cordially invited to an Open Architecture Test System (OATS) Technology Meeting, which will be held on July 21 and 22, 1987 in Atlanta, Georgia. WHAT IS OATS? OATS is an exciting new concept in Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) development. Specifically, OATS is a next-generation, low-cost (under $50K), PC-based, functional test system, whose design and development is sponsored by the OATS Committee, a multi-company organization of ATE users chaired by the NCR Corporation. The committee's charter is to create an open architecture ATE program preparation and run-time environment where components from various ATE suppliers can be used interchangeably, thus avoiding single vendor dependency for ATE. The objective is to create an open environment in ATE much like what exists in the PC marketplace, where functionally identical components can be obtained from several competing sources. MEETING PURPOSE The purpose of the OATS Technology Meeting is to bring together ATE users, expose the group to the OATS concept, development plans, accomplishments to date and to promote an open technical interchange among all the participants. The OATS Committee is interested in your input and critique of the overall proJect. The intent of this open technical interchange is to sharpen the direction of the OATS project, and strengthen the interest of ATE suppliers in OATS. By broadening the OATS support base, ATE suppliers will have a larger market and the proper incentives for developing tools and instruments for the OATS market with their own funds. AGENDA The meeting will cover two full days with scheduled presentations and open forum sessions covering the following topics: 1. Introduction to OATS. 2. OATS Program Preparation Environment. 3. OATS Run-Time Environment. 4. OATS Virtual Instrument Concept. 5. OATS Open Tools. 6. Demonstration of OATS Concept Experiments. 7. Tour of NCR Worldwide Service Parts Center Repair Facility. 8. Summary/Feedback Session. MEETING BENEFITS As a meeting participant you will: 1. Get first-hand information on what OATS is and what it can do. 2. Provide input as to your ATE requirements and wishes. 3. Have an opportunity to meet and exchange information with other ATE users. 4.
