- - - NEURAL NETWORK MODELS AND THE VESTIBULAR SYSTEM A conference on neural network models and the vestibular system will be held on Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19, 1988 at NASA Ames Research Center. The conference is sponsored by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Office of Naval Research. The meeting will provide a forum for interactions between neural network theoreticians and modelers, and vestibular physiologists. A round table discussion among the speakers and other conference participants will define aspects of the vestibular system which can be productively modeled using current neural network theory. The speakers include: John Hopfield, Neural Networks Christof Koch, Neural Models David Rumelhart, Parallel Distributed Processing Tomaso Poggio, Visual Processing David Van Essen, Visual System Models Fred Guedry, Vestibular Systems Overview Charles Oman, Semicircular Canal Biophysics A.J. Hudspeth, Transduction in Hair Cells Manning Correia, Peripheral Vestibular Synaptic Function Jay Goldberg, Neural Coding Stephen Highstein, Comparative Aspects of Vestibular Projections Joel Gallagher, Central Pharmacology of the Vestibular System Charles Markham, Vestibular Reflexes Laurence Young, Visual-Vestibular Interactions Preregistration is requested to expedite badge distribution. There is no registration fee. For registration forms and further information please contact Muriel Ross, Mail Stop 261-2 NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA 94035.
