                     ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS

                             ESONE CONFERENCE

                            VMEbus IN RESEARCH

                           October 11-13, 1988
Swiss Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich
                               Switzerland

The main sponsor of this conference, the ESONE (European Standards On Nuclear
Electronics) Committee, is an association of European laboratories promoting
the use of standards for electronic equipment. Co-sponsors are:

CERN - European Laboratory for Particle Physics
                     ECA - European CAMAC Association
IFIP - International Federation for Information Processing
PSI - Paul Scherrer Institute (formerly SIN)
                       SAP - Swiss Automation Pool
VITA - VMEbus International Trade Association

The conference is open to all having an interest in the design, manufacture
and use of equipment for scientific research based on the VMEbus family of
standards. Papers will cover the design and use of such equipment, with a
strong accent on software and systems integration as well as development of
the standards.

During the first two days, the conference will concentrate on technical and
scientific topics. On the third day, participating companies will present
their latest design concepts.

In parallel with the conference and at the same location, VITA will hold an
exhibition of VMEbus hardware and associated software on 12 & 13 October.

The combination of conference and exhibition, with hardware, software and
systems aspects being discussed and displayed, should enable users, manufac-
turers and systems integrators to identify problems and requirements, and to
discuss new solutions and future developments.

The conference language is English: no simultaneous translation will be
provided.
Both oral and poster papers are solicited. The proceedings will be published
by North-Holland Publishing Company. Abstracts (150 words maximum) must be
submitted by 15 March 1988.
The registration fee is 300 Swiss Francs (includes proceedings, three lunches
and daily refreshments), except for speakers who will be registered free of
charge.
Potential exhibitors should contact VITA Europe, at the following address:
P.O.Box 192, 5300 AD Zaltbommel, The Netherlands
telephone: +31 4180 14661, telefax: +31 4180 15115
Applications for registration and/or requests for further information should
also be send before 15 August 1988 to VITA Europe at the same address.
Late registrations will be accepted at the conference only, subject to a sur-
charge of 100 Swiss Francs.
